Managing Hybrid Claims (T&M and Lump Sum)

The Contract-Based method is powerful because it handles "Hybrid" claims—contracts that are a mix of Time & Materials (T&M) and Lump Sum/Milestone deliverables.

Handling Time & Materials (T&M)

For the T&M components, you do not need to manually calculate values. Because timesheets are booked directly to the Revenue Contract Deliverables and Variations, UniPhi will automatically calculate the claim value for these line items based on the hours and charge rates .

Handling Lump Sum or Milestone Deliverables

If your contract includes fixed-price components (e.g., "Design Submission - $50,000"), follow these rules:

1. Setup: Create specific Deliverables or Variations in the contract for these Lump Sum components.

2. Resourcing: Do not assign resources directly to these contract lines (resources should be assigned to T&M lines or tracked separately to avoid double-counting costs against the fixed revenue).

3. Updating Progress: Before raising your monthly claim, you must manually update the progress for these items. Go to the contract value screen and enter the % Complete, Total Complete, or This Claim value for each Lump Sum Deliverable.
