How to Update Project Milestones (Including Backdating Progress)

To calculate Earned Value (BCWP), the system needs to know how much of the work is physically complete. This is driven by Milestones.

Setting Up Milestones

1. Navigate to the Time module > Milestones sub-navigation.

2. Create Milestones: You can enter milestones manually or import them from a schedule (like Primavera P6).

3. Assign Weighting: Assign a % Earned weighting to each milestone. For example, "Issue for Review" might be worth 10%, and "Issue for Construction" might be worth 100%.

   
   

Updating Progress (Backdating)

As work completes, you update the status of these milestones.

• Staggered Progress: You can update progress incrementally. For example, a milestone can be 15% complete on one date, then 50%, then 100%.

• Backdating: Crucially, when you update a milestone, you can specify the Effective Date.

  • Example: If you finished a drawing suite last Friday but are updating the system today, set the date to last Friday.

  • UniPhi will recalculate the Earned Value curves based on that past date, ensuring your reporting is historically accurate.
